Police raided Michael Boateng’s home in Croydon on 14 February 2024 and seized nearly 20kg of crystal meth. Boateng was arrested at the scene and later charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.

Scotland Yard described the arrest as part of its work to disrupt and prevent serious violence in Croydon. Its statement did not accuse Boateng of a violent act.

On 10 September 2024, Boateng admitted possessing crystal meth, cocaine and MDMA with intent to supply. He was remanded in custody.

By 16 August 2025, Boateng had been sentenced to 14 years in prison at Croydon Crown Court. A report of the sentencing said the court was told that he had committed the offence while on bail for earlier drug charges. A reporter noted that he appeared in grey tracksuit bottoms and a blue prison T-shirt bearing the words “Mental Health Ambassador.” His girlfriend was present.
